2012 Suzuki year code: L2

In 2012, the GSX-R1000L2 saw its first revision since 2009. Suzuki enhanced the chassis, suspension and braking system, and reduced the overall weight of the 2012 Gixxer by 2kg (4.4 lbs).Suzuki simply improved the weak points, gave the Gixxer better brakes, more midrange, lighter handling with a few cosmetic tweaks. GSX-R1000 was one of the first bikes to have big piston Showa front forks. For 2012 the forks remain but have been revised with a shorter fork length and softer spring as the bike is lighter. The rear suspension remains unchanged. Suzuki's GSX-R1000 has always had an exceptional engine and the new motor follows that tradition with class leading torque. Pistons have been redesigned to be 11% lighter with different crowns which has increased compression from 12.8:1 to 12.9:1. Torque is up to a quoted 86ftlb with peak power of 182bhp. Since the original GSX-R750 was introduced in 1985, Suzuki had sold over a million GSX-R sportsbikes by 2013. The model 2013 Suzuki GSX-R1000 1 Million Commemorative Edition celebrates that milestone. According to Suzuki, 1985 units of the 2013 Suzuki GSX-R1000 "One Millionth" Special Edition model were made. It had a distinctive red nose cone and special paint schemeand it also came with black Brembo Monoblock callipers with gold lettering, wheel stripes, gold forks, a celebratory tank graphic, a numbered top yoke, red fork tops, and a special key ring. Suzuki was celebrating its 50th anniversary in America in 2014. To celebrate this, a Special Edition 2014 GSX-R1000 was unveiled by Suzuki at Indianapolis MotoGP. The 2014 GSX-R1000 SE was a limited production machine with only 100 available worldwide, 50 of which available in the United States. The SE was based on the 2012 revision of the GSX-R1000. Special features include: Matte silver-colored bodywork with special graphics. Polished and chrome plated frame. Wheel rims are machined and polished, wheel spokes are finished with blue painted and clear coat. Blue-anodized front fork adjuster, front damper bolt fork parts comp, chain adjuster, steering stem nut, rear swingarm pivot boss, brake lever, clutch lever. Black-anodized front caliper. Blue-colored and clear coated clutch cover, generator cover, engine sprocket cover, rear shock spring. Polished and clear coated muffler, muffler cover and Black-anodized muffler end cap. Exhaust pipes are polished. Polished and clear coated footrest guard. Mat black swingarm. Special speedometer panel design. Special serial number plate. Special Key fob. Blue-colored fuel tank cap, headlight inner, drive chain, seat. Black-colored radiator, oil cooler. New "S" emblem with ridge line on the fuel tank. 2016 Suzuki year code: L6

2016 sees the release of a total of three variations of the GSX-R1000: the standard version, the ABS version and the Commemorative model. The base 2016 GSX-R1000 came in Suzuki Racing Blue with red highlights and 3D graphics for and the ABS version rolls with the same paintwithout the red belly splash for $500 more (in the US). To celebrate the 30-year anniversary of the release of the original GSX-R750, Suzuki released the Commemorative Edition with the blue-and-white paint job similar to the 1985 premier version. The factory also paid homage to the 8-hour endurance racers of the '80s with a red-and-black paint scheme. Colors available:Metallic Triton Blue.
